The Best Midsize Cars in 2025
Looking at all the midsize cars available on the market, the team at The Car Guide has identified the three models that represent the best buys for 2025.
With the discontinuation of the Chevrolet Malibu, Kia K5 and Subaru Legacy, there's very little choice left for Canadian consumers. On the other hand, those that remain have many desirable attributes and can still meet the needs of couples and families. The Nissan Altima is the lone midsize car excluded from our top 3.
1. Toyota Camry

A finalist for both the 2025 Canadian Car of the Year and 2025 North American Car of the Year awards, the redesigned Camry was a no-brainer as our Best Buy in the midsize segment.
Despite offering fewer models than its predecessor and losing a pair of engines, the 2025 Camry stands out with a remarkable combination of power (up to 232 hp) and fuel economy (combined 4.6-4.9 L/100 km) thanks to a highly effective hybrid system. And that system can now be paired with all-wheel drive, pushing the Camry further ahead of the Accord and Sonata.
Quieter and more comfortable, the Camry doesn’t quite match its domestic rival in terms of handling, but it proves balanced and stable. Climb aboard an XSE or XLE model and you'll discover a remarkable level of luxury and meticulous finish. Whichever Camry you choose, you'll enjoy excellent value and a reliable product.
2. Honda Accord

For 2025, Honda's midsize sedan continues without major changes, though it’s still a car we strongly recommend. The lineup comprises three models. The EX is equipped with a turbocharged engine that offers good fuel efficiency, while the Sport and Touring are powered by a hybrid system that greatly reduces fuel consumption.
The Accord stands out with sharp driving dynamics. With a bit more power, you could even call it sporty. Too bad the Accord is expensive, especially considering that its three rivals offer all-wheel drive at a lower price.
3. Hyundai Sonata

Significantly refreshed a year ago, the Sonata is sleeker and more modern than ever, well-equipped even in base trim, and great for Canadian drivers with the option of all-wheel drive. However, unlike the Accord and Camry, it no longer offers a hybrid powertrain in Canada.
The Sonata has the best warranty program in the segment and is a relatively affordable. Comfort is notable, as well. Just so you know, the lineup has been simplified for 2025, and the elimination of the two most affordable models has resulted in a higher base price.
