Cadillac XT6 Not Returning After 2025, XT5 to Continue Until End of 2026

UPDATE (04/08/2025): General Motors confirms that the Cadillac XT6 will be discontinued after 2025, but the XT5 will stay around until the end of 2026. The original story can be found below.

Cadillac’s best-selling vehicle in Canada, the XT4 subcompact crossover, is ending production in Fairfax, Kansas this month. Other gas-powered SUVs might join it soon.

Citing sources familiar with the matter, GM Authority reports that the XT5 and XT6 will not return after the 2025 model year—in North America, at least. Units produced and sold in China will stay alive.

A Cadillac spokesperson told the media outlet that the company has “no portfolio adjustments to announce and can’t comment on the speculation,” simply adding that two additional crossovers will join the Cadillac portfolio this year, namely the Optiq and Vistiq.

While it might look like this electric duo along with the Lyriq will indirectly replace the XT4-XT5-XT6 trio, top boss John Roth suggested last year that Cadillac won’t become an EV-only brand by 2030 after all and will continue to sell ICE-powered models in the next decade.

And yet, with the termination of the XT5 and XT6, the Spring Hill, Tennessee factory will manufacture EVs exclusively including the Lyriq, Vistiq and Acura ZDX (a joint GM-Honda effort).

The only other gas-burning Cadillacs are the CT4 and CT5 sedans as well as the Escalade full-size SUV. The first two might not be long for this world, either.

Considering the huge popularity of SUVs in North America and their profitability for automakers, Cadillac executives would be crazy not to greenlight a new generation of conventionally powered models, don’t you think?
