Top 10 Best-Selling Vehicles in Canada in 2024

Following a boost of nearly 12 percent in 2023 (the largest annual increase since 1997), new light-duty vehicle sales in Canada rose 8.2 percent in 2024 to 1.86 million units, according to Automotive News Data Center. Declining interest rates are helping make up for prices that keep getting higher and higher.

As we reported a few days ago, General Motors was the industry market share leader for the second year in a row, capturing 15.4 percent of the market with 294,315 vehicles sold and an 11.9 percent sales increase. Cadillac and GMC each had their best sales year ever.

Ford came in second among manufacturers, selling 279,221 new vehicles nationwide in 2024, which marks an increase of 16.1 percent. It’s also the best-selling automotive brand in Canada for 16 years running. Other strong performers include Toyota, Hyundai, Kia, Mitsubishi and Subaru, which all beat their sales records in Canada last year.

Now, what about the best-selling vehicles in the country? You’ll find the top 10 below including nine trucks and SUVs plus one car, as well as a newcomer on the podium:
